BIOGRAPHY : Inder Dan Ratnu is a maverick writer from India .His narratives have been put down with a characteristic boldness and with a profound grasp of the issues. Articulate and honest, he can be considered as one of the most imaginative authors in the field of modern political fiction. He is perhaps the only one of his kind who imagined and wrote a full US presidential election campaign story fielding a woman candidate and got her emerge as the winner in a modern election .

His writings are colored and blended with a sense of freedom he is enjoying himself in his country -the largest democracy in the world namely India .It speaks loudly and clearly of the profound sense of appreciation in his heart for the great cause of freedom and democracy. Perhaps 'inspired' by this very cause and for the preservation and promotion of this very cause that he has been undertaking the writing works on , what for his background and education would be considered , 'absolutely unusual topics' namely Winston Churchill and American politics. Best of all, he was educated neither in an English medium school nor in any English environment .

He got education under most rudimentary local elementary schools in the backward desert region of western India . He learnt his English largely by listening to BBC radio , recently through TV ,and by going through the newspapers .He wrote his books sitting in his room at his house in India .He undertook his first ever journey abroad in Sept-Oct 2004 AFTER completion of all of his four books .

All of his works are self publications except for the latest First Lady President which was first published in USA in May2004 , in 2007 it was self-published in India and in 2008 now it has been published by iuniverse , USA . Ratnu is a self assured , unusual writer from India . Ratnu is ,perhaps, the only author of India with specialization on Winston Churchill and current American politics .

Born in 1950, Inder Dan Ratnu is a writer, poet, singer, flute player, cartoonist, agriculturist, banker, and a scientist. Born in a peasant family to poor parents in a tiny village called Barath Ka Gaon near Pokaran in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan-- a western State of India, he is a college graduate in agricultural science who served for 23 years as an officer in Bank of India upto 1997. Brilliant and meritorious in his studies, Inder Dan Ratnu stood as one of the toppers throughout his academic career. His hobbies and deep interest, despite his formal college education in agricultural science, drove him towards literature. Yet Ratnu also has several years of political experience under his belt, having served in the late eighties as private secretary to the late Mr. B K Gadhvi, a union minister from Gujarat in the cabinet of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Belonging to a local bard community called Charan or Gadhvi, Ratnu has a natural inclination toward letters and words. Through his strong interest in global history, politics, languages, literature, poetry, and writing, he improved his English and expanded the horizons of his knowledge through constantly hearing BBC radio and watching the BBC TV channel. His interest grew over the years in world events, and particularly in American politics. Then a great turn in his life's interest came back in 1974 when, while purchasing peanuts from a vendor in Rajkot city of Gujarat , he stumbled upon an odd book entitled Great War Speeches, a collection of Winston Churchill's speeches during World War II. He subsequently began studying the life and work of Churchill and has since been lecturing on "Churchill & Freedom" at numerous venues and to a variety of audiences, including many schools and colleges. A good number of pieces of the best war speeches of Churchill are at the command of Ratnu's memory. Two of the four books that Ratnu has authored are on Winston Churchill. The journal Finest Hour, published by The Churchill Center, Washington, DC, USA (edition106, page32), acknowledged Ratnu as the only writer from India since 1944 who has authored two books on Churchill. His work on Churchill was personally complimented by five American presidents - – Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton -- as well as by five British prime ministers— Heath, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, and Blair. His first book on Churchill was reviewed by Shashi Tharoor back in 1997 who was later fielded in 2007 as a candidate by India for the post of Secretary General of the UNO on the retirement of Kofi Annan. Ratnu has also written two books on current American politics with a ‘futuristic’ angle. First Lady President is his latest book.

Ratnu has an uncanny knack for foreseeing American events. In his book Alternative to Churchill (in the past context)authored in 1993, he wrote of an attack upon the mainland U.S. that, although set during World War II, eerily resembled the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Similarly, his 1998 depiction of the entire impeachment process of president Clinton following the Lewinsky scandal in his book The Ultimate Defense was shocking in its similarity. He foresaw with a devastating accuracy the controversial outcome of the 2000 presidential election, the assumption of George W Bush to the presidency and the subsequent ‘certainty’ of Gulf War II, as well as his use of thinly-velied political premises to justify an attack on Iraq and the "elimination" of Saddam Hussein. In First Lady President, written back in 2003, Ratnu visualized, in the then-future US presidential election, the rise of a female candidate from within the Democratic Party, the rise of a black man as a serious challenger to her from within her own party in the primaries, Americans being torn between the two options of whether to choose their "first LADY president" or "first BLACK president," and even the pairing of the lady and the African American gentleman as presidential and vice presidential candidates, followed by their landslide victory by unprecedented record-breaking margin. The author's works on American politics are not based upon "institutional" but "intuitional" knowledge following a long study of the subject matter and the characters involved.
